Selecting a word for the year is a simple practice that involves selecting a single word that we can refer to throughout the year and reflect back on to motivate and inspire. A desired intent, goal, or mindset for the upcoming year.

My words have varied from focus to bolder and this year its a simple-YES. Yes to possibilities, new adventures, friendships, experiences…

Here are some reasons why we might choose a word for the year:

  1. Clarity and Focus: Selecting a word helps us clarify our intentions. It simplifies goal-setting and decision-making throughout the year.
  2. Inspiration: A chosen word can serve as a source of inspiration and motivation. It acts as a reminder of personal values and/or specific areas of focus that are meaningful to each individual.
  3. Mindset Shift: A word of the year can prompt a positive mindset shift. It encourages us to approach challenges, opportunities, and everyday life with a particular perspective or attitude.
  4. Simplicity: In contrast to setting multiple resolutions, a word of the year provides a more straightforward and adaptable framework for personal growth. It’s a way to keep things simple yet impactful. Hence my simple  word yes-to me it speaks volumes and is a reminder to just do it.
  5. Reflection and Growth: The process of choosing a word often involves reflection on personal values, aspirations, and areas for growth. It encourages us to consider what we want to cultivate in our lives.
