Cruising in 2024 is even more popular now than pre pandemic. If you are thinking about taking a cruise I want to help you get started in the decision making process-how to choose a cruise that works for you.

Step one when choosing the right cruise for you-decide where you want to go! There are over 300 ships to choose from and 1200 ports across the world. You don’t need to know the ports but choose a general destination-Hawaiian Islands, Europe, South East Asia…

What group are you looking for? For example family friendly, adults only, LGBTQ, this will help you narrow your search. Also the size of the ship, do you want a big party boat with lots of people or perhaps a smaller ship easy to navigate and not be surrounded by the masses.

Cruise line reputations-Read reviews and testimonials from other cruisers to get an idea of the cruise line’s reputation for service, food quality, cleanliness, and overall customer satisfaction. Talk to friends and reach out to a travel agent.

Onboard facilities-You do spend travel time on ships to get to your ports. Make sure your ship aligns with your interests: activities for the kids, spa services, shows, pools, fitness centers, specialty restaurants.

Other things to consider:

Affordability-cruising can seem pricey but if you factor in that food and non-alcoholic beverages are included it can be cheaper than hotel/restaurant travel.

Duration-if you only have a week you may want to do something closer to home.

School holidays-if you are an empty nester you may no longer want to travel when children are in abundance.

Weather-cruises are cancelled due to bad weather.
