As a travel agent I am often asked, I mean like a lot, whether people still hire travels agents and the answer is a resounding-YES. Despite the rise of online booking platforms, travel agents offer personalized service and insider knowledge. In this article I will cover some of the benefits of hiring an agent and answer some of the questions I am frequently asked.

First and foremost-is there a cost in hiring an agent? And the answer is, it varies. Some travel companies and individual travel agents have a flat fee, charge by the hour, or don’t charge at all as they earn a commission from the booking (at no cost to you). For example I don’t charge for cruises, travel packages, all inclusive but I do charge an hourly fee ($40/ph) for short trips or when I am planning your wine country trips as we earn no commission. Always make sure fee’s are discussed in advance.

Why hire a travel agent-

Advocacy: If things go wrong travel agents can act as your advocate in the event of disruptions or complications.

Convenience: Working with a travel agent saves time and effort. If you are traveling to a new area we can save you hours of research.

Insider access: Travel companies like working with agents and when available will often give an upgrade to our clients.

Resources: We have resources that turn your family vacation into memorable experiences.

From planning multi-generational family vacations to organizing solo adventures, travel agents cater to the specific needs and preferences of their clients.
